IWT Wirtschaft und Technik GmbH

Research and development institute

Digitalisation, automation, robotics and mobility are topics that the non-profit Research Institute for Advanced Training, Knowledge and Technology Transfer deals with. Here, research and innovation projects are initiated and processed, and the economy, above all SMEs, science, universities and research institutions are professionally networked.

As part of the Steinbeis Network and as a partner of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, the IWT has an extensive network of innovation drivers and companies in the region of southern Germany and beyond. The IWT has comprehensive laboratory facilities, the learning factory and the SmartCity control centre at its disposal.

The Fallenbrunnen learning factory is a learning and demonstration centre for production and production-related application fields for research and knowledge transfer in the field of industrial digitalisation at the IWT. Thanks to the SmartCity control centre, data of various kinds can be visualised and monitoring can take place, for example when critical threshold values are exceeded.

Especially for smaller companies, the IWT is a valuable partner in terms of networking, research and innovation management. New products, services and business models can be created on the basis of the infrastructure available at IWT for research and industrial projects consisting of innovative technologies and processes such as robotics, 3D printing, AI or XR applications.
