DVGW-Forschungsstelle

Hydrogen supply, energy supply, fuels

The Research Centre of the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches e.V., DVGW) with the areas of gas technology, gas application and water chemistry and water technology has stood for research into current topics relating to gas and water since 1907. Its connection to the Engler-Bunte Institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology always guarantees up-to-date scientific methods and findings. The accredited laboratories of the research centre offer product testing of gas use and gas distribution and analysis of fuels.

The area of gas technology examines the role of gas in the energy transition across all sectors. Questions regarding the production, processing and feed-in of renewable hydrogen and methane are answered, new process concepts are developed and system-analytical and grid-specific issues are addressed.

The core of the gas application area is the accredited DVGW Gas Testing Laboratory, which is recognised throughout Europe and tests gas application and gas distribution products for the DVGW Certification Body. In addition, research and development work is carried out in the field of gas applications.

The water chemistry and water technology division has many years of experience in water supply and in material and energy conversion for industrial processes. These include: Membrane filtration of natural water, process water and pool water.
