Designing, testing and condition monitoring of innovative powertrains

The Institute of Drive Technology at Aalen University is involved in research on innovative drive systems. The focus here is particularly on electrified powertrains. The topics covered are divided into three main points: designing, testing, condition monitoring.

A major goal is research and knowledge transfer. This is done primarily through research cooperation with regional companies and international corporations. In addition to teaching, knowledge transfer to students takes place through the supervision of research master programmes, theses or projects.

An essential task in drive technology is testing components and systems. The four-axes test bench (VAPS; GZ: INST 52/19-1 FUGB) is a drive and complete vehicle test bench that enables research into new drive and system configurations as well as new operating strategies for all-electric and hybrid drive concepts and vehicles. With a wheel power of 440 kW, it offers the possibility to run highly dynamic driving scenarios.
