Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH, based in Mannheim, was founded in 2006,
The company's shareholders are the Rhine-Neckar Regional Association, the Future Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region Association, the Rhine-Neckar, Palatinate and Darmstadt Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Mannheim Rhine-Neckar-Odenwald and Rhine-Main Chambers of Trades and Crafts.
Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH has received the mandate from the shareholders' meeting to further develop the region economically, socially and ecologically in close cooperation with regional stakeholders, to position it positively and to make it known. To this end, the company forges alliances, supports regional networks and initiatives and offers a platform on which regional stakeholders can advance joint projects and join forces. The regional development organisation provides impulses, develops regional strategies in its fields of work in dialogue with the relevant bodies and drives projects forward.
The challenges and thematic fields of regional development are manifold and require a focused approach. Specialised departments of Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH identify individual focal points, work on them in the long term and create sustainable synergies with other departments as well as between the three institutions. In this context, the Strategy Unit acts as a guiding light for trends, topics and needs.
