Mercedes-Benz - on the way to an electric future.
The Mercedes-Benz Group is one of the most successful automotive manufacturers in the world. In addition to the Mercedes-Benz brand, the brand portfolio also includes Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach as well as the G-Class product brand. Decarbonization is one of the most important goals of the Mercedes-Benz Group: Mercedes-Benz will consistently create the preconditions for a net carbon neutral* new car fleet by 2039.
The Mercedes-Benz Group sells vehicles (Cars and Vans) and services in almost all countries of the world and has over 30 production sites in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. The Group is continuously developing its global production network on these continents and is gearing it towards the production of the all-electric vehicle portfolio. At the same time, the global battery production network is being built on three continents. In October 2024, Mercedes-Benz opened Europe's first battery recycling factory with an integrated mechanical-hydrometallurgical process in Kuppenheim. This makes the company the first automobile manufacturer in the world to close the battery recycling loop with its own facility. With the recycling factory, Mercedes-Benz is underscoring its pioneering spirit and innovative strength in establishing a genuine circular economy in order to significantly reduce the consumption of valuable primary resources.
* Net carbon neutral means that non-avoided or reduced CO2-emissions at Mercedes-Benz are offset by certified compensation projects.
